Professional Experience

Developed a course on Chaos and interactive activities on Mechanics for High School.

Teaching Experience
Taught courses on Physics for middle and high school teachers.
Taught courses in Mechanics, Optics, Electricity and Magnetism in high school.
Taught an Intranet long-distance course on Chaos.

Research Interests
I am interested in Physics Education Research. I conducted research about teachers’ implementation of reform-based curricula and about students’ conceptual understanding of Chaos.

Retired electrical engineer after 17 years in the semiconductor electronics industry.  Worked as engineer and manager in areas of semiconductor device manufacturing, research and development at Hughes Aircraft Technology Center (Carlsbad, CA) and Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (San Diego, CA).

Teaching Experience 
4 years at CSUSM Physics Department teaching various physics and astronomy courses.

Research Interests
Theoretical physics, recently in areas of general relativity and quantum field theory.

Product development consultant to medical device, communications, and aerospace industries.  Over 20 years experience in semiconductors, communications, optical materials, infrared technology, optical sensors, optoelectronics, biomedical devices and instrumentation, working for the federal government as well as small companies.

2 years at CSUSM Physics Department teaching various physics and electronics courses.

Research Interests
Artificial intelligence, sensory systems, biomimetic systems, optics, renewable resources.
