Student contributions in class

Example 1: force diagrams
Example 2: Interactive Lecture Demos
Example 3: Graphs of wave pulses

Here are sample student submissions after students were asked to draw forces acting on a block. Some students draw an accurate diagram, but others exhibit 'classic' errors. UP makes it easy to show these submissions to the whole class, and the dark green writing is instructor ink added during whole class discussion after students had submitted their work.

Here are four examples of student submissions after students were asked to make predictions during an Interactive Lecture Demo. The letters were added by the instructor, then students were asked to vote (using clickers) on the prediction they thought most accurate.

Acknowledgments to Randy Knight, some of the materials (including the figures and problem solving strategy) were taken from his book, which we used in this class. In addition, the background graphs in example 2 are screenshots from Vernier's Logger Pro data acquisition program used with the ILDs.
